Lower Piedra Campground
Directions: From Pagosa Springs head West on HWY 160 towards Durango approximately 23 mi. Turn right onto Chimney Rock Ct/Lower Piedra/FSrd 621 for .02 mi. It’s the fist turn right after the Piedra river. Then turn left on Lower Piedra Rd for 1 mi. Continue onto USFS-62 for .02 mi. The campground is basically at the end of the road. Facilities: Potable water, trash pickup, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates. Campground description: The campground has good tree coverage with nice spots for camping. The river runs close to the campground so its easy to walk over and fish. You’ll pass many fishing or lunch spots on the river on the way back to the campground. Right before you reach the campground you’ll pass a small mineral clay pool on the left which is fun to float in. Bring a floatie if you’re going to swim there, the water is pretty shallow and the floor is squishy clay. Bring sunblock! and you must have a valid Colorado fishing license to fish. More Info Map

Crater Lake Trail
Directions: From US 160/US 84 junction, travel east crossing over Wolf Creek Pass, past Big Meadows Reservoir and nearly into South Fork turning south onto Park Creek Road (FS 380), a gravel road. Continue 19.1-miles to a small pullout on the west side of the roadway. Look for small trail sign. San Juan River
This river is great for many outdoor activities. You can Tube the river in designated areas, fish, soak in a hot spring, or just enjoy the scenery! Please be aware that some of the river is on private property so please do not trespass! Buckles and Harris Lake Trail

Alberta Peak Trail
Directions: From Forest Service Office head east on Highway 160 for 22.9 miles till you reach top of Wolf Creek Pass. Palisades Horse Campground
Directions: From HWY 160 turn NW onto Pierda Rd for 15.4 mi. Continue onto Forest Rd 631/Forest Service Rd 631 for 6.2 mi. Turn right onto Forest Rd 640 for 4.7 mi to end of road. Facilities: Potable water faucets, livestock water tank, trash pickup, vault toilets, wheelchair accessible picnic tables, fire grates, horse pens, wheel barrows and rakes for cleaning horse pens. Navajo Lake
Directions: Take HWY 160 west towards Durango. Take a left to go SW on CO-151. Turn left onto County Rd 982 Facilities: Vault Toilets This is great recreational lake not too far from Pagosa town limits! The lake surroundings can sometimes be muddy so if you plan to drive down to the shore please be aware that you might get stuck. There are no shaded spots near the lake so bring a sunshade and lot’s of sunblock. This is a boater and fishing paradise! Bring that family and the boat or rent a boat! Cloman Park
Directions: rive 1.3 miles north on Piedra Road from Highway 160. Turn right (east – entrance to Steven’s Field airport) on Cloman Blvd for 1.4 miles. Stay left at the fork in the road which then dead ends at the large parking lot. For Skiers- The Cloman Park ski trails are groomed by the PNC exclusively for cross-country skiing. For snowshoers, please use the outer edge of the trail or off trail. Length: 2.2 Mile loop Elevation- 7,300′ Map

Coyote Hill Trail
Directions: Drive North on Piedra Rd. (CR600/FS 631) from Highway 160 6.5 miles to trailhead on east side of the road and just past the cattle guard where road turns from pavement to gravel. Facilities: Parking lot for cars and horse trailers. Length: 3.6 Mile loop Elevation: Begin-7,769′ End-8071′ For Cross-Country Skiers- There are 3 loops here groomer exclusively for cross-country skiers. Trails have signs for ability levels. Quartz Lake
Directions- From US 84, turn left onto Mill Creek Road/CR 302 which is a gravel road. Drive 6.3miles to a fork. Keep right at the fork onto Nipple Mountain Road/FS 665. Continue for an additional 9.7-miles to the trailhead. Facilities- None Trail Length- 4.7 miles one way This is a described as a difficult hike. You will gain 2400ft in elevation to the lake. The trail contains switchbacks and rocky, slick climbs. Remember, you must have a valid Colorado fishing license to fish! Map

Blanco River Group Campground
Blanco River Group Campground is located four miles off U.S. Highway 84, on Forest Road 656. It is about 15 miles southeast of Pagosa Springs, on the Blanco River. There is only 1 camp spot available at this site and it can have up tp 100 people! So get the family together and reserve this awesome camping experience. Treasure Falls
Directions: : Travel east from Pagosa Springs on US Highway 160 about 16 miles to the Treasure Falls parking area on the right (east). Facilities: Parking lot Length- .3 Mile one way Elevation: Begin-8,500′ End-8,825′ Map

Continental Divide Trail
Directions: First you must get to the large parking area at the summit of Wolf Creek Pass, bike through the meadow on an obvious trail and cross a creek on a wooden bridge. Turn left after crossing the bridge. Make sure to turn left and not right! You can bike out and back or loop. Length: 15+ Miles

Divide Lakes Trail
Directions: Drive North on Piedra Road (CR 600/FS 631) 22-miles to the intersection with the FS 640 (Williams Creek Road). Turn north and drive an additional 3.5-miles to FS 644 (Poison Park Road), turning west and then another 3.0-miles to the Poison Park trailhead located at the end of the road. From this trailhead, it is 7.8 miles to the Divide Lakes Trail. Anderson Trail
Directions: From US 160 in downtown Pagosa Springs, turn north onto Lewis Street and take an immediate left onto 5th Street. Stay right on Fourmile Road (CR 400) which will then turn into FS 645. Drive north 8.4-miles before turning right at a signed junction. Continue 4.6-miles to a shared trailhead with the Anderson Trail. The first parking lot you encounter is for horses, continue on up the road a short distance for the main lot for hikers. Lobo Overlook
Directions: From The town of Pagosa Springs, travel east on US Highway 160 to the very top of Wolf Creek Pass. At the top turn to the left and travel north on Forest Road 402 for another 1.5 miles to a fork. Take the left fork to the overlook. Facilities- 1 vault toilet, picnic tables, gravel parking lot Elevation- 11,760 – 11,800 ft Take in the views on this beautiful mountain top. This one is worth the drive. Turkey Springs Trail Network
Directions: The Turkey Springs trailhead is 5.3 miles north on Piedra Road from the intersection of Piedra Road and 160 highway. The trailhead parking lot is on the left, immediately after the cattle guard. Length: 30+ Miles Elevation: 7,000-7,500 range Trail Map

Opal Lake Trail
Directions: From US 160/US 84 junction, turn south onto US 84. Travel 8-miles and turn northeast onto Blanco Basin Road (CR 326), a gravel road. After 9.5-miles turn south onto FS 600 (Castle Creek Road). Continue for 3.3-miles to FR 023 (Opal Lake Road). Turn south and continue an additional .7-mile to the trailhead. Trail description: The trail is uphill for most of the way so be prepared and go slow if needed. Don’t let that discourage you from going, the trail is stunning and worth it! You travel through a beautiful wooded area and into an amazing aspen forest. Have your camera handy! The trail does eventually level out and you pass a lovely creek. The trail can be muddy early in the season or if there’s been a lot of rain so keep an eye on weather. Once you get to the lake there are places to sit, have a nice picnic and enjoy the views. Depending on the time of year the lake can seem a bit buggy, but you’ll notice that they are mostly just a few gnats that don’t bite, but if that sort of thing “bugs” you bring some spray. Blanco River Trail
Directions: From US 160, turn south onto US 84. Travel 8-miles and turn northeast onto Blanco Basin Road (CR 326), a gravel road. After 12 miles, you will make a sharp right hand turn and cross a bridge, immediately after the bridge, turn left onto a dirt driveway with an address post marker 12130. Follow this road for about a half mile. There is a fork in the road, stay right. Very limited parking on the left before the trailhead sign. Do not drive past the gate. Go Through gate for trail, not trail to the right. The trailhead is located on private property. Please be respectful of the landowner and remain on the trail. Cimarrona Trail
Directions: Drive North on Piedra Road (CR 600/FS 631) 22-miles to the intersection with the FS 640 (Williams Creek Road). Turn north and drive an additional 4.1-miles to the trailhead located on the north side of the road just beyond the entrance to the Cimarrona Campground. Facilities: Campground facilities and restroom nearby with small parking area by trailhead. Bridge Campground

Elwood Pass OHV Trail
This is a high elevation OHV road just outside of Pagosa Springs that promises back country air and breathtaking views! The road is more like a gravel road for the first 8 miles but then quickly turns rocky with larger loose rocks and water crossings. If the road is wet it can be slick. At the summit if you turn to the right you will see Summitville and old ghost town and you will end up in Platoro CO. Then eventually down to Chama NM. Left at the summit will take you back to an intersection that will have a sign pointing back to the 160. Drive with caution and enjoy the scenery! Summit elevation- 11,676ft Map

Leche Creek Trail
Directions: From US 160/US 84 junction, turn south onto US 84. Travel 8-miles and turn northeast onto Blanco Basin Road (CR 326), a gravel road. After 9.5-miles turn south onto FS 600 (Castle Creek Road). Continue south for .4-miles and turn on FS 668. Keep left at the fork, approximately .5-miles and continue .2-miles further to a larger circular trailhead. Williams Creek Reservoir
Directions: Off the 160 Hwy you turn NW onto Piedra rd for about 22 miles. Turn right onto Forest Rd 640 for 1.5 mi. Turn right onto USFS-723 for .04 mi. Fish Types: Kokanee Salmon and Trout Facilities: Vault Toilets This is a beautiful lake with stunning forest views behind it. Please bring sunblock because there are lot’s of non-shaded spots. Most of the road out to the lake from town is a gravel/dirt road but it’s well maintained. The scenery on the drive out is something to see and even better in the fall when the leaves have changed. Small boats are allowed but nothing that creates a wake. Bring your canoe or paddle board for an epic mountain lake experience! Remember, you must have a valid Colorado fishing License to fish! Big Meadows Reservoir and Campground
From the Pagosa Ranger District office in downtown Pagosa- Head east on the US-160 towards Wolf Creek for 30.2 miles. Turn left onto Co Rd 410 for 1.4 miles. Slight left onto F R 410 for .04 mile. Facilities- Boat ramp, Tent camping, Picnic tables, Vault Toilets, Drinking water, Parking Camp spots are on a first come first serve basis. No wake allowed on this lake! Alberta Park Reservoir
Ready for a high elevation lake day? Try 10,200 elevation! Facilities- none Description- Enter the left gate into wolf Creek Ski resort and look for small brown sign that says Alberta Lake. Proceeded through parking lot to the dirt road at the end. Follow that road all the way to the lake. The road is a gravel-ish road that I’ve seen cars on so if you do not have an SUV or truck you should be OK. It didn’t seem bad at all but travel at your own risk. The road opens to a beautiful lake. There are a few dispersed camp spots there. The lake can be walked around if the water is lower and is surrounded by a dense forest. There is a boat launch but the water can get low and be below the launch. Bring the canoe or paddleboard. Unless you’re in the trees the parts close to the shore do not have shade so bring sunblock! This is a high elevation lake and weather can change rapidly so be prepared for anything. Always check weather on Wolf Creek Pass before attempting. Fishing is by artificial flies and lures only. Fourmile Lakes Trail
Directions: From US 160, turn north onto Lewis Street and take an immediate left onto 5th Street. Stay right on Fourmile Road (CR 400 which will turn to FS 645). Drive north 8.4-miles before turning right at the junction. Continue 4.6-miles to a shared Trailhead with the Anderson Trail. Facilities: Vault toilet and parking lot for horse trailers Length: 1 Mile one way but you must fire reach the trail junction which is 6.2-miles up the Anderson Trail or 4.9-miles up the Fourmile Trail. Mill Creek – Nipple Mountain Rd Scenic Drive
From Hwy 84 turn onto Mill Creek Road (CR 302) just north of the County Fairgrounds. At approximately 7 miles take the right fork (FS 665) and proceed east to the Nipple Mountain area, another 12 miles. On this trip you’ll experience the vast panorama of the upper San Juan Valley. Proceed through the saddle separating Oil and Square Top Mountains. From here you will be able to view the Blanco Basin. The road is a dead end so return by the same route. Distance- 32+ miles round trip

Plumtaw, Piedra Loop Scenic Drive
Directions- From Hwy 160, turn north at Lewis street and take the immediate left fork in the road. At about 1/4 mile take the right fork and follow Fourmile road (CR 400 which becomes FS 645) about 8 miles. Take the left fork and follow Plumtaw Road (FS 634) about 20 miles. Where Plumtaw Road descends to the Piedra Road, you can continue your trip in two directions Turn right to the Piedra River Trail and continue to Williams Creek Reservoir, a beautiful mountain reservoir boasting great fishing, hiking and camping. Or turn left and you will continue back to Pagosa. The roads are dirt and gravel but are suitable for most vehicles. Length- 30 – 60 miles roundtrip depending on which route you decide.

Fourmile Falls Trail
Directions: From US 160 in downtown Pagosa Springs, turn north onto Lewis Street and take an immediate left onto 5th Street. Stay right on Fourmile Road (CR 400) which will then turn into FS 645. Drive north 8.4-miles before turning right at a signed junction. Continue 4.6-miles to a shared trailhead with the Anderson Trail. The first parking lot you encounter is for horses, continue on up the road a short distance for the main lot for hikers. Facilities: Vault toilet and parking lot for horse trailers Length: 8 Miles one way. But you can stop at the falls for a day hike which is only 3.5 miles one way.

Dakota Springs High School Trail
Directions: The best starting point for this is the connector trail off South 5th Street in Yamaguchi Park. Take the connector trail next to the baseball field and then follow this multi- loop trail counterclockwise as it winds behind the high school with two interconnecting trails. Length: 2 Miles loop Elevation: 7,200′-8,000′ range

Williams Creek Campground
Directions: From HWY 160 you turn N/W onto Piedra Rd for 15.4 mi. Continue onto Forest Rd 631/Forest Service Rd 631 for 6.2 mi. Turn right onto Forest Rd 640. Facilities: potable water, trash pickup, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates. Single family sites, some double sites and some with water and sewer hookups. Reservoir Hill Mountain Park
Directions: Two trailheads access Reservoir Hill: Spa (above the Healing Waters Resort and Spa on Hot Springs Boulevard) and San Juan (behind the San Juan Motel, on U.S. 160). Both trailheads have maps. Length: 1.4 out and back or 4 mile loop Elevation: 7,200′-8,000′ range This is also open for all nonmotorized winter activities. This is not recommended for beginners due to steep hills Map There is also a fantastic frisbee golf course here!

Westfork Campground and Nordic Trail
Directions: From Pagosa Springs travel east on U.S. Hwy 160 for 13.5 miles, then turn northwest on Forest Development Road #648 for 1.5 miles to campground entrance. Facilities: Potable water, trash pickup, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates. More Info For cross-country skiers- Park at the end of FR 648. Park on plowed side of road. Do not block driveways or trail entrances. Drive at your own risk if roads are not maintained. Getting stuck can easily happen. Pagosa Nordic Club grooms the left side (southern side) of the main road to allow private property access along the right side (northern side) of the main road. Please share the trail. Echo Canyon Reservoir
Directions: Take HWY 160 East to US 84, turn right. (Signs to Chama NM) Head down the 84 for about 3.7 mi. Turn right onto Lake Access Rd. Fish types- Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass and Yellow Perch. Facilities: Restrooms, Boat ramp Please remember you must have a valid Colorado fishing license to fish! Map

Silver Falls
Directions- Head east from Pagosa Springs towards Wolf Creek for about 10 miles. Turn right onto East Fork rd for an additional 8 miles or so. A high clearance vehicle is recommended because the road crosses a few small streams. Follow to the gravel parking lot at the trailhead. Trail begins behind the old guard station. Length- 1/8th of a mile one way Map

East Fork Weminuche Creek Trail
Directions: Drive North on Piedra Road (CR 600/FS 631) 22-miles to the intersection with the FS 640 (Williams Creek Road). Turn north and drive an additional 3.5-miles to FS 644 (Poison Park Road), turning west and then another 3.0-miles to the trailhead located at the end of the road. Facilities: Vault toilet, horse trailer parking lot Length: 4.8 Miles one way Elevation: Trail ascends 1,700′ to the Basin To reach this trail you must first hike 6.5-miles up the Weminuche Trail to the trail junction. Fish Creek Trail, Flattop Mountain
Directions: From US 160/US 84 junction, turn south onto US 84. Travel 8-miles and turn northeast onto Blanco Basin Road (CR 326), a gravel road. After 9.5-miles turn south onto FS 600 (Castle Creek Road). Continue for 3.3-miles to FR 023 (Opal Lake Road). Turn south and continue an additional .7-mile to the trailhead. Yamaguchi Nordic Track
This is a beginner skill level track for the whole family. If there is enough snow, Pagosa Nordic Club occasionally grooms a 1.5 km loop for skate skiing, with set tracks for classic cross-country skiing. Directions- Follow Hot Springs Boulevard past Pagosa Springs Town Hall and turn right on Apache Street, then left on South 5th Street. Follow South 5th Street about two blocks to the parking area. Piedra River Hot Springs
Directions- Take US 160 for about 20 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs. The turn off is located 5.5 miles west of the Chimney Rock turnoff which is on the left (Hwy 151) and before the Piedra River. From Highway 160, you will make a right on 1st Fork Road/Co Rd 166. Take road for 7.3 miles until you reach trailhead and parking area. Take the Sheep Creek Trailhead. The hike down is all downhill. At the bottom of the trail, follow the fork to the right. The hot springs are about 1/2 mile upriver. Look for an open area where you can see what looks like camp spots. Bring a shovel if you can to help maintain the hot springs! Clothing is optional so be ready for that! Distance- 3 miles round trip Map

Rainbow Hot Springs
Directions- Head northeast on US 160 for about 16 miles to the sign for West Fork Campground. The sign is on the left (west) side of the highway and southwest side of Wolf Creek Pass. Take the West Fork Campground road (CR 648), following signs for West Fork Campground and Born Lake. It is about 7 miles until you reach the West Fork Trail-head parking. The hike has a 1000′ elevation gain so prepare for a workout, but will be easier on the way back! Began hiking up the trail past the Borns Lake community of cabins. Follow the West Fork Trail #561. The trail is usually marked during the beginning of the hike but can be tough to follow towards the end. Once you hit the campground look for campsite #8 and hike down to the river from there. There are more springs if you hike down between campsites 6 & 7 but this is a steeper climb down. Elevation- 9593′ Length- 5.1 miles one way Map

Lower Weminuche Trail
Directions: From the Forest Service office on Highway 160 go east 2. 4 miles until you reach Piedra Road. Turn right on Piedra Road for 15.7 miles then merges to FS Road 631 for 6.6 miles . Turn left on dirt parking lot road about 1/2 mile past FS Road 640. Facilities: Parking lot for cars and horse trailers. Vallecito Lake
Beautiful lake in Bayfield that offers fishing, boating and beautiful views. There are a couple places to grab lunch around the lake or just pack a lunch and hang on the many spots around the lake for a swim. Bring the boat, fishing poles, paddle board, or kayak for a fun filled day! Facilities- There is parking and a vault toilet near the Vallecito event center. Marina and boat launch. East Fork Campground

“Hippy Dip” Hotspring
This is a free hot springs right along the San Juan river lovingly called the “hippy dip”. No need to pay, these little springs are located outside of the resorts and on a first come first serve basis. Once you get too hot you can take a nice refreshing dip in the San Juan! Come and enjoy while meeting new friends. Directions- If you park in the public parking lot right by the Tequilas Restaurant and walk down to the river via the pathway, you will see the little hot tub type springs right on the river. There is an additional one across the river. Enjoy the “hippy dip” responsibly!

Piedra Ice Fissures Trail
Peek at ancient fissures that ice carved out of the stone. This is a short trail for the whole family. Of you enter to explore a fissure or cave please note that it can be dangerous! Windy Pass Trail
Directions: From US 160/US 84 junction, continue east on Highway 160 for 14-miles to West Fork Road. Watch for “Windy Pass Trail” sign on the left side of the highway. The trailhead is located on the opposite side of Hwy 160 (your right when travelling north east). In about 0.3 miles past West Fork Road you will see a San Juan National Forest sign on your left, park here. Use care when crossing highway 160. Piedra Falls Trail
Directions: Drive North on Piedra Road (CR 600/FS 631) 17.8-miles to the junction at Sportsman’s Campground. Slight right off of Piedra Rd and continue on Middle Fork Rd (FS 636) for 2 miles. Take the first road to the right, East Toner Rd (FS 637), and drive that for 7.5-miles to the parking lot at the end of the road. Facilities: Parking Lot. There are no restrooms here! Trail description: The trail is a pretty easy walk through a beautiful forest. Once you get close to the falls there is a place on the trail that has a slight edge on one side. It’s no canyon but if you fear heights this part might make you uncomfortable. Most people have no problem with it and the falls are worth a look! Once you pass that if you want to get close to the falls you’ll have to do a little climbing or you can just view it from the bottom. Wear shoes with good traction, things can get wet and slippery or even muddy depending on the time of year. The falls are beautiful at every time of the year! Length: .5 Mile one way Map
